PAST HERITAGE PROJECTS
St Peters Richmond Anglican Church, NSW
The current St. Peters Richmond Anglican Church and rectory buildings were designed by Mr Francis Clarke and were built by Mr James Atkinson. The Church was consecrated in 1841 by Bishop Broughton. The architectural style of the Church is “Colonial Georgian”, and the rectory is “Rustic Gothic”. Later additions and alterations to the Church and rectory were designed by Mr Edmund Blacket.
MG Painters Sydney undertook the comprehensive restoration of the Anglican Church situated in Richmond, NSW. Faced with limited storage space, we executed a meticulous strategy by selectively removing every second row of pews. This strategic adjustment provided unobstructed access for mobile scaffolding, facilitating efficient work on elevated surfaces.
The restoration process involved extensive repair initiatives, addressing water damage on the ceiling stemming from impaired slate tiles, conducting crack repairs, and remedying deteriorated render with the application of lime render. In addition, we implemented a specialized program to fix a rising damp issue, ensuring thorough remediation of moisture-related concerns.
To ensure a pristine foundation for our work, all surfaces underwent thorough sanding using our advanced dustless sanding systems. Subsequently, a primer was meticulously applied to all repaired areas.
Our commitment to excellence extended to the finishing touches, where we applied a mould-resistant, low-sheen paint for the ceiling. The walls received a protective elastomeric coating, ensuring longevity and durability. This meticulous approach not only restored the Church to its former glory but also contributed to the preservation of its structural integrity for years to come.
Garden Island - The Residences
MG Painters Sydney collaborated with AHR (Australian Heritage Restorations) to successfully conclude a substantial 12-month project involving the comprehensive internal and external restoration of The Residences at Garden Island, NSW.
Our scope of work encompassed significant tasks, beginning with the meticulous removal of deteriorating paint from internal timber structures. This was necessitated by inadequate prior preparation and the use of substandard products. The intricate process involved rectifying the aftermath of poor previous applications. Internally, we executed a full repaint to restore the aesthetic and structural integrity.
Externally, our involvement extended to addressing timber rot through the application of the Timbabuild epoxy repair system. This advanced system allowed us to effectively repair and reinforce timber elements, ensuring durability and longevity. Additionally, we undertook the meticulous restoration of the paintwork on all external surfaces, contributing to the overall revitalization of The Residences at Garden Island.
Our collaborative efforts with AHR ensured the successful completion of this extensive project, marking a significant milestone in the preservation and enhancement of this historical site.
